HI I KNIT THIS BYE | Big Herringbone Cowl

Over the weekend I went back to Kenyon for family weekend. I figured the place where it sometimes feels like fall was invented was a great place to debut the first knit item of the season, as well the first post in this series I took great time and care in naming.

Of course, this is a Purl Soho pattern, and I even eschewed the suggested yarn for Purl's own Worsted Twist. It's a little softer and I think fills out a little better than the original.

It's a herringbone stitch, which, although weird at first, is actually super easy to get the hang of. It creates this great zig-zag on one side and this chunky rib on the other. If you're looking to jazz up an otherwise simple pattern, herringbone is the way to go.
